Acer palmatum ‘Dr. Seuss’ is a very unique Japanese maple with unusual leaves with an irregular shape. These leaves also have a unique light green on dark green variegation. At it’s peak this variegation is a creamy white on top of the darker green foliage. At other times the variegation can be quite subtle. These strange shaped leaves turn to a vibrant orange in the fall. These trees are not displaying their usual characteristics, but they are still great looking Japanese maples. In my experience reverted trees still display typical fall colors regardless of the shape of the leaves. Acer palmatum 'Emerald Lace' is the Fastest Growing Green Dwarf Japanese Maple with Lacey Leaves Acer palmatum 'Emerald Lace' is one of the fastest growing dwarf Japanese maples there is. Shaping and pruning when young helps this cultivar live up to its potential as a wonderful garden specimen. 'Emerald Lace' is a very fast grower and has the natural inclination to grow outward and downward. This is the typical growth habit of a weeping dwarf Japanese maple but with the extreme speed at which 'Emerald Lace' grows these growth habits can be exaggerated. Acer palmatum ‘English Lace’ is one of the very few lace leaf varieties that have an upright habit. While not as decidedly upright as ‘Seiryu’, ‘English Lace’ will still form a nice tree that is large for a Dissectum. Acer palmatum ‘English Lace’ leafs out in spring with red foliage that becomes burgundy later in spring. This burgundy color holds throughout most of the summer, but will sometimes fade to green. ‘English Lace’ then turns to bright red again in the fall. 10 Year Size: Height: 10-12 feet Width: 8-10 feet

Acer palmatum ‘Enkan’ has very fine linearilobum foliage and a small compact growth habit. More gardeners should find a spot for 'Enkan' in the garden. In spring foliage emerges a deep wine color and holds its red into the summer very well. Fall color ranges from orange red to deep red. Some palmate leaves appear on new growth but older foliage is quite narrow. It is very interesting the way leaves seem to hang downward from the petioles.  This variety is said to come from South Korea but has a Japanese name that means the tube. Acer palmatum 'Eye of the Tiger' is a dwarf Japanese maple with delicate lacy leaves. These small leaves emerge in spring with a light red to almost peachy color. By summer the leaves turn to a light green. Summer flushes of new growth offer more splashes of the vibrant spring color across the foliage. Fall color is then a bright red. Acer palmatum ‘Fall’s Fire’ is a fantastic small, upright Japanese maple with unique leaves that will add a different texture to the garden. ‘Fall’s Fire’ has much smaller leaves than most upright varieties and the leaves are deeply serrated, creating an almost lace leaf look to the foliage. ‘Fall’s Fire’ has beautiful green leaves throughout the spring and summer, but it unsurprisingly gets its name from the fall color. The name says it all here as fall sets this tree ablaze with oranges and yellows before becoming mostly red before dropping its leaves. ‘Fall’s Fire’ certainly is a show stopper at the end of the year. 10 Year Size: Height: 8-10 feet Width: 6-8 feet

This is a very rare reticulated leaf form dissectum. The new leaves in spring are light green sometimes almost white with dark veins. A great plant for many parts of the world. Although very beautiful 'Filigree' is more of a collector plant in hotter climates as summers heat will really do a number on it around August,  causing it to drop a large percentage of it's leaves. This is caused by heat and not lack of water. If you must try your luck with this plant in hotter climates please place in a cool shady spot. Acer palmatum ‘Firefly’ is an awesome new Japanese maple with intense reticulated variegation. ‘Firefly’ is hot pink in the spring with bright green veins. The colors on ‘Firefly’ seem to change daily as the leaves range from pinks to oranges and everywhere in between. Acer palmatum ‘Geisha Gone Wild’ is variegated with pink, purple, cream and green making a spectacular display in the garden. Fall color is orange and purple. So similar to 'Gwen's Rose Delight' that even the experienced collector may not be able to tell them apart, these to cultivars apparently both were collected from sports on 'Geisha' on opposite sides of the world. ‘Germaine’s Gyration’ was discovered by Bob Vandermoss and introduced by Andre Iselli for his mother Germaine. This outstanding dissectum variety does well in the south, tolerating even full sun. This is important because most green dissectums will not tolerate full sun as far south as Atlanta. Germaine's Gyration will become much wider than tall with the inner branching swirling around the main trunk in different directions making it obvious where the gyration part of the name came from. The outer form of the tree however is a very pleasant and fairly symmetrical mound. Acer palmatum 'Ghost Dancer' emerges almost solid white with red tips in early spring then the green veins develop spreading through the leaf giving it color. By summer it is almost totally green. 'Green Hornet' is unusually fast growing for a lace leaf maple and because of this it can benefit greatly from pruning or training when young to get it started in the right direction. Shoots on newly grafted plants may grow 2 feet or more the first year.
