Acer palmatum ‘Ichigyoji’ is a green upright Japanese maple with large, broad leaves. ‘Ichigyoji’ is often considered the sister tree to ‘Osakazuki’ as they have many similarities including their large, broad leaves and bold, green color. ‘Ichigyoji’ also leafs out a pale orange color in the early spring similar to its sister, ‘Osakazuki’. The similarities don’t end with the leaves. The branching structures of these two trees are also similar in that ‘Ichigyoji’ shares ‘Osakazuki’s strong, stiff branches that give the tree an elegant shape that is endearing for a Japanese maple. Acer palmatum ‘Inaba shidare’ is a dwarf Japanese maple with a weeping growth habit. 'Inaba Shidare' is one of the best lace leaf Japanese maple cultivars for hotter climates. 'Inaba shidare' can grow in full sun in even some of the hottest climates in the United States. The name 'Inaba Shidare' means "like the cascading leaves of the rice plant" and has been grown since at least the mid 1800s in Japan.
Acer palmatum 'Inaba shidare' is a larger grower for a dwarf Japanese maple but still only gets to be about 6 feet tall at maturity. 'Inaba shidare' grows with a weeping and spreading habit eventually maturing to about 6 to 8 feet wide.

With a name that means thunder 'Inazuma' really makes a statement in the garden as older trees can reach 25 feet or more in height and usually as wide or wider than tall.
