Acer palmatum 'Nishiki Sho' - mapleridgenursery Acer palmatum 'Nishiki Sho' - mapleridgenursery
Acer palmatum 'Nishiki Sho' Rough Bark Japanese Maple
from $39.00
While some consider this cultivar synonymous with 'Arakawa' this plant collected from Smith-Gilbert Arboretum and labeled 'Nishiki sho' seems different than 'Arakawa' collected from other sources. 'Nishiki sho' seems to form rough corky ridges at a slightly younger age and seems to grow a little faster but shorter and wider than 'Arakawa'. Fall color is yellow to orange. 10 Tear size:  Height:12-14 Feet  Width: 10-12 Feet

Acer palmatum 'Red Feathers' - mapleridgenursery
Acer palmatum 'Red Feathers' Dwarf Japanese Maple (Pre-Order)
from $49.00
This little maple with very fine dissected leaves is an excellent addition to any garden. Among dissectums only 'Red filigree Lace' and 'Beni komo no su' have finer foliage. 'Red Feathers' does seem to grow faster than it's fine leafed cousins. Starting very bright red in spring the foliage darkens with the heat of summer turning green in hot climates before putting on a wonderful crimson show in fall. Discovered in 1980 and introduced in 1995 by John Vermeullen and Sons nursery this plant was actually a seedling off of the original 'Burgundy Lace' (also a John Vermeullen and Sons introduction in 1945). During evaluation this plant was labeled Rilas Red and occasionally this plant will show up with this incorrect name, leading one to believe that some plants escaped the nursery before introduction. Trees listed as Pre-order are not yet available and will not ship immediately. These trees will ship when they become available. 10 years Size: Height 2-3 Feet Width 3-5 Feet
Acer palmatum 'Omure yama' - mapleridgenursery Acer palmatum 'Omure yama' - mapleridgenursery
Acer palmatum 'Omure yama' Green Japanese Maple
from $39.00
When young, Acer palmatum 'Omure yama' may develop a leader and grow up, but as the tree reaches maturity the long slender new growth cascades down, giving the tree the weeping look that it is known for. Some growers stake 'Omure yama' when young to help it attain initial height from which to weep from. Plants that never develop a leader become wide weeping mounds not much different than the growth habit of many dissectums. I have heard other authors claim that this or that variety has the best fall color of any Japanese maple. I would not have the audacity to claim that about any cultivar but year in and year out I would say the reds, oranges and yellows of  'Omure yama' in fall are at least equal to any other variety we grow.10 Year Size:  Height: 6-10 Feet Width: 8-10 FeetSpring Color: GreenSummer Color: GreenFall Color: Orange RedSun Tolerance: PartialPlanting: Elevated, Well Drained Soil

Acer palmatum 'Matsugae' Variegated Japanese Maple
Acer palmatum 'Matsugae' Variegated Japanese Maple
from $39.00
We find 'Matsugae' to be a very dependable variegated cultivar in the southeast. In spring it opens with cream and rose markings along its irregular shaped medium green leaves. In summer the rose color fades away and the cream turns pure white leaving beautifully contrasting variegation all summer long. Red petioles also add to the overall appearance of 'Matsugae'. This is a very old cultivar with a name that means 'the pine branch' which is hard to understand for a variegated cultivar. This plant is similar to 'Kagiri nishiki' but is faster growing and has better variegation. Fall color is usually orange. 10 year size:  Height: 8-10 Feet   Width: 10-12 Feet

Acer palmatum 'Koyuki' Snowflake Japanese Maple
Acer palmatum 'Koyuki' Snowflake Japanese Maple
from $39.00
Acer palmatum 'Koyuki' is a very interesting Japanese maple with an unusual leaf shape. This cultivar should not be confused with the reticulated variety by the same name. 'Koyuki' has green leaves with rounded lobes. These leaves turn a reddish orange color in the fall.  There is a similar variety called 'Koyamandi nishiki' that is known as the snowflake maple. 'Koyuki' translates to little snowflake which makes sense as these are two of the only varieties with this sort of rounded leaf shape.  10 Year Size: Height: 6-8 feet   Width: 4-6 feet

Acer palmatum 'Ukigumo' Variegated Japanese Maple - Maple Ridge Nursery Acer palmatum 'Ukigumo' Variegated Japanese Maple - Maple Ridge Nursery
Acer palmatum 'Ukigumo' Variegated Japanese Maple
$39.00
Acer palmatum 'Ukigumo' is the famous "Floating Cloud" maple. In early spring dazzling  foliage opens speckled with pink and white. In summer the pink fades leaving only a dusting of white to hint at its former spring glory. Unfortunately in areas with hotter climates the variegation is not nearly as well developed and some years does not show at all. Oh the anticipation of a gardener in a hot climate hoping each spring that this will be the year that his prized "Floating Cloud" will actually show its colors. If you do actually get to see variegation in early spring in these hot locations it is fleeting at best as it will fade to green quickly leaving the gardener waiting and wanting until next spring. Compact and upright when young 'Ukigumo' matures into a beautiful small round topped tree. Fall color is generally orange. 10 year size:  Height: 10-12 Feet   Width: 8-10 Feet

Fall color is a very attractive orange.10 Year Size: Height: 2-4 feet Width: 2-4 feet

Acer palmatum 'Peve Multicolor' Variegated Japanese Maple
from $39.00
Acer palmatum ‘Peve Multicolor’ is a tremendous variegated variety of Japanese maple with white dusting across the foliage. Unfortunately, this variegation is inconsistent and does not appear every year. Without the variegation, ‘Peve Multicolor’ has light green leaves and an attractive form. Fall color is going to be a brilliant yellow to orange regardless of the variegation. 10 Year Size: Height: 8-10 feet Width: 4-6 feet
Acer palmatum 'Mardi Gras' Variegated Japanese Maple Acer palmatum 'Mardi Gras' Variegated Japanese Maple
Acer palmatum 'Mardi Gras' Variegated Japanese Maple
$39.00
Acer palmatum 'Mardi Gras' shows more color in early spring than just about any Japanese Maple. Wonderful pink and white colors show up on new growth. Late season growth in summer will give you another blast of color. Older plants do not tend to show nearly as much variegation as younger more vigorous plants. Heavy pruning just prior to leafing out in the spring can sometimes return older plants to the vibrant colors of younger plants.  10 year size:  Height: 8-10 Feet   Width: 6-8 Feet

Acer palmatum 'Koto ito komachi' Thread Leaf Japanese Maple
Acer palmatum 'Koto ito komachi' Thread Leaf Japanese Maple
from $39.00
Acer palmatum ‘Koto ito Komachi’ is a small linearilobum found as a chance seedling and introduced by J.D. Vertrees. Most leaves have 5 lobes some have only 3. Young vigorous plants may have course foliage but older plants display the characteristic very fine almost hairlike foliage. Very rare in the nursery trade as their are many plants sold under this name that are not the same cultivar. The Japanese name means old 5 string harp. Komachi can also be a horticultural term for dwarf. Fall color is yellow to orange. 10 year size:  Height: 4-6 Feet   Width: 3-4 Feet
Acer sieboldianum 'Kumoi nishiki' - mapleridgenursery Acer sieboldianum 'Kumoi nishiki' Variegated Japanese Maple (Pre-Order) - Maple Ridge Nursery
Acer sieboldianum 'Kumoi nishiki' Variegated Japanese Maple (Pre-Order)
from $39.00
Acer sieboldianum ‘Kumoi nishiki’ is an upright growing Japanese maple with dark green leaves with a white dust-like variegation sprinkled across all of the leaves. This variegation holds really well throughout the summer before the leaves turn various shades of orange. The dusted variegation turns purple in the fall to go with the orange foliage. ‘Kumoi nishiki’ is a very cold tolerant Japanese maple like all Acer sieboldianums. ‘Kumoi nishiki’ should be grown in mostly shade in order to maximize the variegation in the foliage. ‘Kumoi nishiki’ is a very nice alternative to ‘Ukigumo’. Trees listed as Pre-order are not yet available and will not ship immediately. These trees will ship when they become available. 10 Year Size: Height: 8-10 feet Width: 4-6 feet

Acer palmatum 'Okushimo' - mapleridgenursery
Acer palmatum 'Okushimo' Green Japanese Maple
from $39.00
Acer palmatum 'Okushimo' was listed as early as 1710 in Japan. This old cultivar with a name that means pepper and salt, definitely has a place in the modern landscape. Leaves emerge chartreuse in spring with bright red petioles, before turning darker green and displaying cool little dimples all over the leaves. Its these dimples that reminded the Japanese of salt and pepper. Summer turns the leaves much darker and they begin to curl inward at the edges of the little sharp lobes. The distinctive green curled leaves of 'Okushimo' give it an ability to contrast just right with other plants in the garden and the fact that it is so decidedly vase shaped with most of its width above head height means that it can be tucked into corners and between paths or next to sidewalks. We do suggest that you plant 'Okushimo' in partial shade in hotter climates. The great fall color ranges from yellow to orange and even red. 10 Year size:  Height:  10-12  Feet    Width: 6-8 Feet
