Acer palmatum ‘Mizuho beni’ has brilliant orange-yellow foliage edged with bright crimson bursting from pink bud sheaths that put on a show so bright and colorful most other plants in the garden are just green with envy. After the dazzling spring display the summer leaves are green with red edges and always nice to look at. Fall color is red to orange. Acer palmatum ‘Iijima sunago’ is an old cultivar from Japan that was first mentioned in the 19th century. ‘Iijima sunago’ is an upright Japanese maple with dark orangish-red leaves with pronounced green veins in the spring. ‘Iijima sunago’ translates to “sand dusted” which describes the white specks that the leaves of this tree develops during most summers. Acer palmatum ‘Sophia’ is a new introduction by Maple Ridge Nursery that was discovered as a chance seedling. ‘Sophia’ is still under observation, but there is no doubt that this is a special Japanese maple tree. ‘Sophia’ is a matsamurae type Japanese maple with thin leaves with lobes that are wider at the base. These leaves emerge in spring with a pale orange color and defined veining. As temperatures increase, the leaves turn to an attractive olive green. The leaves of ‘Sophia’ darken to a maroon color and then eventually a fiery bright red color in the fall. ‘Sophia’ is a very fast and strong grower. Acer palmatum 'Dragon Master' is a Weeping Dwarf Japanese Maple with Small, Broad Leaves with Bright Yellow Color Acer palmatum ‘Dragon Master’ is a bright yellow version of the popular weeping Japanese maple, ‘Ryusei’. Acer palmatum ‘Dragon Master’ is a weeping dwarf Japanese maple with some of the most pendulous growing branches of any Japanese maple in existence. 'Dragon Master' grows straight down with a dramatic weeping growth habit. With this extreme growth habit 'Dragon Master' won't achieve much height at all without staking. The natural growth of 'Dragon Master' will create a mounding ground cover on its own. 'Dragon Master' is generally staked up to a certain height then allowed to fall to the ground making a beautiful flowing waterfall like affect. The most unusual thing about 'Dragon Master' aside from its bright yellow foliage is that it has this extreme weeping growth habit but is the leaves are fully palmate instead of the traditionally lacy leaves of most weeping Japanese maples. The leaves of 'Dragon Master' are bright yellow and very attractively star shaped. Most cascading varieties have dissected leaves which makes 'Dragon Master' one of the most unique varieties of weeping dwarf Japanese maples there is. ‘Dragon Master’ has very bright yellow leaves in the spring. These yellow leaves are about as bright yellow as any other Japanese maple that we grow. Yellow Japanese maples like 'Dragon Master' do a great job of contrasting with the popular red Japanese maples. The leaves somewhat to a chartreuse green in the summer before turning orange to bright red in the fall. Acer palmatum 'Dragon Master' is a dwarf Japanese maple that will grow best in partial sun in basically all climates. 'Dragon Master' should grow perfectly well in zones 5 through 9. Acer palmatum ‘Ikandi’ is an extremely variegated Japanese maple discovered as a chance seedling from Acer palmatum ‘Alpenweiss’ by Talon Buchholz. The leaves on ‘Ikandi emerge almost entirely pink before the green and white develop around the veins. The pink variegation fades to green and creamy white by summer time and eventually will turn orange to red in the fall. ‘Ikandi’ needs to be protected from the hot afternoon sun, but morning or dappled sun help to provide excellent color to the variegated leaves in the spring. Variegated leaves on ‘Ikandi’ develop more as it matures, so be patient with this one and you will reap the beautiful benefits in the long run. ‘Ikandi’ will grow into a small to medium sized tree that should only reach eight to ten feet tall at maturity. 10 Year Size: Height: 8-10 feet Width: 4-6 feet

Acer palmatum ‘Glowing Embers’ is a fast and large growing Japanese maple known for its fall color. The leaves of ‘Glowing Embers’ emerge light green in spring before maturing to a darker green for most of the summer. Fall is when this tree really puts on a show. ‘Glowing Embers’ boasts an array of yellows, oranges, and reds all over the foliage. Acer palmatum ‘Englishtown’ is an excellent, upright growing tree for tight spaces or smaller landscapes. ‘Englishtown’ is a dwarf Japanese maple that doesn’t typically have the same compact, shrubby habit of other dwarfs. ‘Englishtown’ will have a more tree like shape while remaining relatively small. ‘Englsihtown’ has dark red leaves in the spring that will usually keep their color very well into the summer. Fall color is a bright red. ‘Englishtown’ is a perfect Japanese maple for just about anyone due to its small stature and good color.10 Year Size: Height: 4-6 feet Width: 3-4 feet

Cryptomeria japonica ‘Elegans nana’ is tightly compact and tends to grow with clumps of foliage. The small cones are abundant and very attractive. The cones first appear in fall as a very light almost lime green that contrast to the dark green foliage making 'Elegans Nana' one of the most interesting plants in the Autumn garden. During winter the cones turn first gold, then brown and during colder winters in the south, the foliage will bronze sometimes taking on an almost purple cast. Then in spring you get the same effect as fall when the new growth emerges lime green against the dark older foliage. ‘Attaryi is very similar to 'Aconitifolium' except that the leaves are a little larger and not as deeply cut. 'Attaryi' is a very fine small to medium sized maple. While growing slowly and needing some protection from sun and drying winds especially in hotter climates, 'Attaryi' matures into a beautiful, round topped tree eventually becoming about as wide as it is tall. Also a nice touch are the very pretty small blooms displayed in early spring. This cultivar out of Australia has an interesting reddish color in early spring becoming more bronze as summer approaches. Reportedly this bronze color persists most of the summer but in hotter climates the bronze fades to mostly green with a hint of the former color remaining on the leaf edges.
