Acer Palmatum Japanese Maples

Acer palmatum ‘Tattoo’ is a fantastic dwarf Japanese maple with similar characteristics to ‘Mikawa Yatsabusa’. While similar, ‘Tattoo’ grows slower, stays smaller, and has more deeply divided leaves than ‘Mikawa yatsabusa’. ‘Tattoo’ leafs out with lime green leaves in the spring that turn to a dark green by summer. Fall color is then yellow to orange. Acer palmatum ‘Tattoo’ is one of our very favorite dwarf Japanese maples, and it is very hard to come by. 10 Year size: Height: 2-3 feet Width: 2-3 feet

Acer palmatum ‘Nebula’ is another in a long line of excellent, reticulated Japanese maples introduced by Buchholz nursery. The leaves of Nebula emerge a light pink with peach and cream variegation. The foliage fades to green by summer but maintains the darker contrasting veins. These leaves then change to a striking red color in the fall. ‘Nebula’ is a small to medium growing Japanese maple that will grow to about 8 feet tall at maturity. 10 Year Size: Height: 6-8 feet Width: 4-6 feet

Acer palmatum ‘Bewely’s Red’ is a beautiful red lace leaf Japanese maple. This Dissectum is unique in that it grows more upright than most other lace leaf varieties. ‘Bewely’s Red’ has wonderful red leaves in spring that hold their color well throughout the year. ‘Bewely’s Red’ also performs well in full sun even in hot climates.10 Year Size: Height: 6-8 feet Width: 6-8 feet

In spring, Acer palmatum 'Higasa yama' may be one of the most exciting and colorful trees you will ever see, there is nothing else quite like it. Unfortunately this intense color is short lived. As soon as temperatures start to get hot most of the variegation will fade away leaving a faint white or cream line down the center of the lobe. And when it gets really hot in our southeastern summers it will go totally green. In late summer 'Higasa yama' will send out  long runners of new growth with solid green leaves much larger and differently shaped than the typical leaves. These limbs will usually put out typical leaves the next spring  if not they should be removed. Fall color can be quite dramatic with reds oranges and yellows. Our Higasayamas aren't showing much variegation this year but Higasayama is notorious for having year to year variegation volatility. Acer palmatum ‘Yezo nishiki’ is a great red upright Japanese maple for any yard. ‘Yezo nishiki’ emerges in the spring with a deep red color to the leaves. These leaves then add bronze undertones throughout the hotter months. ‘Yezo nishiki’ then has bright orange-red color in the fall. ‘Yezo nishiki’ is a slow growing, red upright Japanese maple that will work great in most yards. 10 Year Size: Height: 10-12 feet Width: 6-8 feet Our 1 Gallon and 3 Gallon sizes are available for shipping and in store pickup. 'Stella Rossa' translates to Red Star. The habit of this cultivar is decidedly weeping, delicate and graceful. While it tolerates full sun, 'Stella Rossa' would like to have a little shade in hotter climates. The foliage of 'Stella Rossa' emerges bright red in early spring holding the bright red color well into summer before turning darker red and eventually burgundy. In very hot climates it turns bronze by September but never totally green like most other red maples in our nursery. While it may be a little slower growing than many of the dissectums it holds its bright red color in the Southeast better than almost every other cultivar. The foliage of ’Adrian’s Compact’ is predominantly burgundy but is highlighted by the bright red of the new leaves. Also known as 'Little Margie'

Acer palmatum 'Caperci Dwarf' is a dwarf Japanese maple with a compact growth habit. The leaves of 'Caperci dwarf' are green with red edges in the spring. These leaves then turn yellow to orange in the fall.  10 Year Size: Height: 2-3 feet   Width: 2-3 feet 

Acer palmatum ‘Enkan’ has very fine linearilobum foliage and a small compact growth habit. More gardeners should find a spot for 'Enkan' in the garden. In spring foliage emerges a deep wine color and holds its red into the summer very well. Fall color ranges from orange red to deep red. Some palmate leaves appear on new growth but older foliage is quite narrow. It is very interesting the way leaves seem to hang downward from the petioles.  This variety is said to come from South Korea but has a Japanese name that means the tube. 10 year size:  Height: 5-7 Feet   Width: 4-5 Feet

Acer palmatum ‘Blonde Beauty’ is a Japanese maple with reticulated variegation. The leaves are green with blonde-yellow highlights and dark veins. Fall foliage is bright red. 10 Year Size: Height: 6-8 feet Width: 6-8 feet
