Acer palmatum 'Waterfall' Dwarf Japanese Maple with Green Lace Leaves and the Weeping "Waterfall" Shape Acer palmatum ‘Waterfall’ is a stunning weeping dwarf Japanese maple with green lacy leaves. 'Waterfall' is quite similar to Acer palmatum 'Viridis', however the leaf shape can be slightly different as well as different variations of yellow and orange fall color. Acer palmatum 'Waterfall' emerges in spring with bright lime green color that darkens as the temperatures get warmer in the summer. 'Waterfall' displays an excellent green color through the spring and summer that will really brighten up a landscape. In the fall 'Waterfall' will turn bright yellow and orange and is a true show stopper. Given the name 'Waterfall' it should come as no surprise that it is a weeping dwarf Japanese maple with cascading, waterfall-like growth. 'Waterfall' is a medium growing dwarf Japanese maple that should reach about 4 to 6 feet tall and about as wide. 'Waterfall' has elegant weeping branches that give the tree nice flow and character. Acer palmatum 'Waterfall' is a strong growing dwarf Japanese maple that will grow well in zones 5 through 9. In many areas of the country 'Waterfall' will be able to handle full sun. It can even tolerate full sun in hotter climates but would certainly appreciate a break from the hot afternoon sun if possible. We see very little difference in shape or leaf size at our nursery, although it may be slightly slower growing. Where we do see a huge difference is in the fall color which in addition to the bright yellow and gold of 'Viridis', 'Waterfall' displays wonderful reds and oranges washed across the leaves. Acer palmatum ‘White Peaches’ is a heavily reticulated Japanese maple. ‘White Peaches’ emerges in spring with brilliant white leaves that appear to be dipped in red. These red tips go away rather quickly, giving way to the bright white spring leaves. The white leaves are contrasted by the bright green veining on each leaf. While the colors do fade by the summer time, there is still quite a bit of reticulated variegation left on the leaves throughout the summer. Acer palmatum 'Whitney Red' is a wonderful red upright Japanese maple with broad leaves. These leaves have a very nice red color in the spring that holds well into the summer. Acer palmatum ‘Wildfire’ is a brilliant, coral bark Japanese maple with light green leaves in the spring. Acer shirasawanum ‘Garden Glory’ is a strong growing green full moon Japanese maple with glossy green leaves in the spring and summer. Acer shirasawanum ‘Gloria’ is a great little full moon Japanese maple with bright cherry red spring color. This colors hardens off to a dark maroon which lasts most of the summer. In fact, it holds red color into the summer longer than most other red full moon Japanese maples in hotter climates. Acer shirasawanum ‘Junihitoe’ is a full moon Japanese maple with large rounded leaves perfectly exemplifying the full moon category. These leaves are a very attractive light green in the spring and a darker green in the summer. Fall color is a bright, vibrant orange. Acer shirasawanum ‘Junihitoe’ is an upright growing full moon Japanese maple that doesn’t get very large.10 Year Size: Height: 6-8 feet Width: 3-5 feet

Acer shirasawanum ‘Moonrise’ is an excellent full moon maple with exceptional spring color. The large leaves emerge different shades of pink, peach, and orange. These leaves drastically change color over the first several weeks of spring before finally becoming a yellowish green in late spring that maintains through the summer. Fall color is orange. ‘Moonrise’ is a wonderfully growing small to medium size tree that will reach about 7 feet tall at maturity. 10 Year Size: Height: 6-8 feet Width: 4-6 feet

This may very well be the most heat tolerant of the shirasawanum varieties. The large luxurious green leaves are more deeply cut than many shirasawanum varieties and are quite sun tolerant in all but the hottest climates. 'Palmatifolium' is quite vigorous and forms a strong, sturdy upright tree becoming more rounded and wider with age. Acer shirasawanum 'Purple Umbrella' Full Moon Japanese Maple is a dwarf broadleaf Japanese maple that has large dark purpleish red leaves. Fall color could be anywhere from bright red to deep maroon coloring.  It grows to around 8 feet tall and around 4 feet wide. It was named after the leaf color and shape when introduced by Crispin Silva from Crispin Creations. 

Acer shirasawanum 'Royalty' is a red full moon Japanese maple. Unlike most full moon Japanese maples with their large, rounded leaves, 'Royalty' has very long, narrow leaves. These leaves are dark red in the spring and very attractive. Summer typically turns the leaves to a yellowish green. Fall color ranges from yellow to orange to red. 'Royalty' is a very nice upright growing tree that is quickly becoming a favorite here at the nursery. Acer shirasawanum 'Yasemin' is a full moon Japanese Maple with excellent variations of red color all year long. 'Yasemin' emerges in spring with stunning deep red leaves that eventually darken to a dark purple towards the end of spring. The color fades some in the summer as nearly all red Japanese maples do. In the fall the leaves turn to a bright red. As a full moon Japanese maple the leaves of 'Yasemin' are quite large and broad though they are more deeply divided than most full moon types. 'Yasemin' can handle the heat and the sun very well making it an excellent variety for most climates. 'Yasemin' will grow into a short to medium size tree with a nice canopy. Acer sieboldianum 'Shoryu no tsume', meaning "claw of the dragon" is a fantastic cold tolerant, upright growing, green japanese maple. As the name suggests, the leaves are heavily divided making the full leaf look similar to a dragon claw. Fall color displays a showstopping red. This tree can grow in many zones- 4-9 and will make an excellent addition to any yard.
