Green Japanese Maples

Acer shirasawanum ‘6910’ is a highly desirable and sought after tree that has great yellow green color in early spring becoming a nice medium green in summer. Fall is a blast of yellow orange and red. 6910 tolerates the heat and humidity of warmer climates very well even in full sun in most of its range. Acer palmatum ‘Japanese Princess’ is one of the most exciting dwarf Japanese maples in existence right now. ‘Japanese Princess’ is from the Mikawa Yatsabusa family, meaning that it has short internodal lengths on the branches which creates a stacking effect of the leaves. ‘Japanese Princess’ emerges with a bright red color to the leaves. The red is highlighted by white pubescence. The red color of the leaves quickly transitions to a yellowish orange which remains for the rest of the spring. By summer, the color of the leaves fades to a light green color. Fall color is a bright orange to red. Acer palmatum ‘Koto no Ito’ has  been described as the dancing monkey tree for the way the extremely narrow lobes dance in the wind. The habit of 'Koto no ito' is upright and very nice. It's vary narrow strap like leaves  inspired Koichiro Wada of  Japan to name it 'Koto no ito' which means harp strings.  Fall color begins as a wonderful yellow moving towards gold and finishing blended with orange. 10 year size:  Height: 5-6 Feet   Width: 3-5 Feet Spring Color: Green Summer Color: Green Fall Color: Yellow Sun Tolerance: Partial Planting: Elevated, Well Drained Soil

Acer palmatum 'Sir Damon' is an excellent coral bark Japanese maple variety. The bark on 'Sir Damon' ranges from dark red on older branches to bright red on younger growth. This red bark color is most pronounced during the winter months. The leaves are light green in the spring and get a little darker in the summer. The light green spring color contrasts off the red bark very nicely. Fall color is a bright yellow. 'Sir Damon' is a great coral bark variety for someone that wants a coral bark Japanese maple but needs a shorter tree than the typical Sango kaku coral bark Japanese maple. 10 Year Size: Height: 8-10 feet   Width: 4-6 feet

Great small maple that will grow  wider than tall, 'Tama hime' emerges in spring with orange tips to the leaves before turning green for the summer. Fall color ranges from bronze to orange. 10 year size: Height: 1-2 Feet   Width: 2-3 Feet

Acer palmatum 'Okushimo' was listed as early as 1710 in Japan. This old cultivar with a name that means pepper and salt, definitely has a place in the modern landscape. Leaves emerge chartreuse in spring with bright red petioles, before turning darker green and displaying cool little dimples all over the leaves. Its these dimples that reminded the Japanese of salt and pepper. Summer turns the leaves much darker and they begin to curl inward at the edges of the little sharp lobes. The distinctive green curled leaves of 'Okushimo' give it an ability to contrast just right with other plants in the garden and the fact that it is so decidedly vase shaped with most of its width above head height means that it can be tucked into corners and between paths or next to sidewalks. We do suggest that you plant 'Okushimo' in partial shade in hotter climates. The great fall color ranges from yellow to orange and even red. 10 Year size:  Height:  10-12  Feet    Width: 6-8 Feet

Acer palmatum ‘Cosmos’ is one of the most heavily variegated Japanese maples in existence. ‘Cosmos’ has green leaves with splashes of pink and white all over them. This variegation is typically very consistent and persists even in the summer. Fall color is a vibrant orange. Not to be confused with ‘Radiant’, which was found as a sport off of ‘Cosmos’. 10 Year Size: Height: 8-10 feet Width: 4-6 feet

Acer palmatum 'Yama nishiki' Variegated Japanese Maple is an elegant upright Japanese maple known for its striking white reticulated leaves, which are intricately veined with green. This unique leaf pattern creates the effect of snow-covered mountain peaks, a nod to the tree's name, meaning "Snow Peak" in Japanese. This variegation is outstanding but is not always consistent and is not visible at all times throughout the year. During fall, the foliage transforms into vibrant shades of orange and red, adding seasonal interest. At maturity, Yama Nishiki typically grows to a height of 8 to 10 feet, making it an excellent choice for smaller gardens or landscapes where its delicate beauty can be appreciated.

Just like a Phoenix rises from the ashes, Acer palmatum ‘Phoenix’ rises out of dormancy with bright red leaves in the spring. This bright red color is especially contrasted by yellow-orange veining. ‘Phoenix’ is a member of the Corallinum group of Japanese maples that all typically leaf out a spectacular red before turning green for most of the spring and summer. Like the rest of the maples in this group, ‘Phoenix’ will also often have red new growth in the summer to really contrast off of the green leaves. Acer palmatum 'Asayake' is a dwarf lace leaf Japanese maple with yellow foliage in the spring. In addition to this incredible yellow color the leaves also have slight red edges. The leaves change to a light green in the summer. Fall color transitions from orange to bright red. 'Asayake' is a dwarf, pendulous tree that should form a low growing shrub at maturity.
