Acer Palmatum Japanese Maples

Acer palmatum ‘Garnet Tower’ is a large growing, lace leaf Japanese maple with some vertical growth to go along with the more traditional spreading habit. ‘Garnet Tower’ has nice red leaves in the spring that fade in the summer. Acer palmatum ‘Dixie Rain’ is one of our newest introductions at Maple Ridge Nursery. ‘Dixie Rain’ has an interesting leaf shape for a broad leaf variety. The leaves are deeply divided making it almost appear as a cross between a broad leaf and a lace leaf. The growth habit is also unusual for most broad leaf varieties. While most broad leaves grow upright, with some exceptions, ‘Dixie Rain’ appears to spread rather than grow vertical. This variety is still in its infancy stage so we are still monitoring its growth. ‘Dixie Rain’ also has rather unique colors. ‘Dixie Rain’ will first emerge in early spring with orange-red leaves that quickly change to green. This green then remains through the rest of the spring and summer. The new growth that appears is also that orange-red color which gives the tree a striking contrast. Fall color is then yellow to orange, making ‘Dixie Rain’ a beautiful tree in the landscape.10 Year Size: Height: 5-7 feet Width: 5-7 feet

Acer palmatum ‘Akita yatsabusa’ is a dwarf Japanese maple with very small leaves. These small leaves are green in the spring and summer before turning a striking red in the fall. ‘Akita yatsabusa’ has short branches which give the tree a very elegant structure. Due to the short stature, small leaves, and short branching, ‘Akita yatsabusa’ is an excellent Japanese maple for bonsai or really just any small area of your yard.10 Year Size: Height: 3-4 feet Width: 2-4 feet

Acer palmatum ‘Livy’ is an upright growing Japanese maple that will never get very tall. ‘Livy’ emerges in the spring with bright red leaves that mature to a deeper red in the summer. Fall color is a spectacular bright red. ‘Livy’ will grow into a compact, shrubby tree at maturity. 10 Year Size: Height: 6-8 feet Width: 4-6 feet

Acer palmatum ‘Shigarami nishiki’ is a small Japanese maple with intense variegation. This tree is splashed with pinks and whites and greens. These colors are similar but more intense and consistent than the classic ‘Oridino nishiki’ Like most variegated varieties, ‘Shigarami nishiki’ should be planted in shade for the best color, or at least given protection from the hot afternoon sun. 10 Year Size: Height: 6-8 feet   Width: 4-6 feet

Acer palmatum 'Usu midori' emerges in the early spring with peachy orange colors to the leaves. These leaves eventually mature to a bright yellow color. The color of the leaves stays light as the turn a light green, chartreuse color in the summer. The fall color is a showy orange-red. 'Usu midori' has very much has a vertical, upright habit and is a fast grower.  10 Year Size: Height: 10-12 feet   Width: 4-6 feet

Acer palmatum 'Ueno homare' is a strong, upright growing Japanese maple with excellent yellow-orange color in the spring. 'Ueno homare' emerges early in the spring with the bright yellow foliage that turns to a light, chartreuse green in the summer. The leaves then turn an orange to red in the fall. 'Ueno homare' is a strong, hardy tree that can handle sun in most areas. 10 Year Size: Height: 10-12 feet   Width: 4-6 feet
