Acer shirasawanum ‘Autumn Moon’ is an excellent Full Moon Japanese maple with yellow-green leaves in the spring. This yellow hue maintains across the foliage throughout most of the summer given proper afternoon shade. Acer palmatum 'Kawahara no midori' is a fast growing, upright Japanese maple with bright green leaves and bright green bark. You may be familiar with coral bark Japanese maples, but did you know there are also Japanese maples with green bark? Many Japanese maples have a greenish bark when they are young, but its a much more natural looking green. 'Kawahara no midori' has bright green bark that actually stands out in a crowd of other plants. The leaves of 'Kawahara no midori' are green in the spring and summer and turn bright yellow in the fall. 10 Year Size: Height: 8-10 feet   Width: 4-6 feet 

A fast growing cultivar that comes out more orange red than purple red in early spring but rapidly darkens as it is exposed to the spring sun, 'Oshio beni' is a strong grower. It will not hold it's color as long into the hot summers of the Southeast as well as some other cultivars, turning green by late June in Atlanta. What 'Oshio beni' lacks in summer color it more than makes up for in the fall when the foliage turns a bright orange red. Acer palmatum 'Mardi Gras' shows more color in early spring than just about any Japanese Maple. Wonderful pink and white colors show up on new growth. Late season growth in summer will give you another blast of color. Older plants do not tend to show nearly as much variegation as younger more vigorous plants. Heavy pruning just prior to leafing out in the spring can sometimes return older plants to the vibrant colors of younger plants.  10 year size:  Height: 8-10 Feet   Width: 6-8 Feet

Acer palmatum ‘Ilarian’ is a stunning variegated Japanese maple with splashes of pinks and whites across green leaves. ‘Ilarian’ needs to be protected from the hot afternoon sun and should actually be grown in mostly shade in hotter climates. 10 Year Size: Height: 7-9 feet Width: 4-6 feet

Acer sieboldianum ‘Sode no uchi’ is a hardy, cold tolerant Japanese maple. ‘Sode no uchi’ is a medium growing Japanese maple. ‘Sode no uchi’ leafs out with light green leaves in the spring. These leaves darken as the temperatures get warmer. When fall arrives, ‘Sode no uchi’ puts on a show with vibrant yellow and orange leaves. 10 Year Size: Height: 8-10 feet Width: 4-6 feet

Acer shirasawanum ‘Mikado’ is a shorter growing full moon Japanese maple with large, rounded leaves. These leaves emerge in the spring with a striking plum red color. Green and bronze tones begin to creep into the center of the leaves come summertime, giving the leaves a very attractive color even in the hotter months. ‘Mikado’ then turns a brilliant red in the fall. 10 Year Size: Height: 8-10 feet Width: 4-6 feet

Discovered as a chance seedling by J.R.P. van Hoey Smith this distinctive cultivar bears the name of the arboretum where it was discovered. This fast growing cultivar tends to be mostly vase shaped for many years, although very old specimens begin to get more broad with age. The 3 things for which Trompenburg is most famous all have to do with the foliage. The first is the spring color which is a dark purple sometimes almost appearing brown or chocolate turning more red as summer begins but holding a nice color well into even an Atlanta summer. The second is the very sharp serrations to the lobes of the leaf. The third is the way the lobes curl at the ends, but this does not always appear until the tree somewhat matures.  Trompenburg will tolerate full Sun even in the south. Fall color is a brilliant scarlet red. There is some speculation that 'Trompenburg' may have shirasawanum parentage due to the fact that the samaras are held erect. 10 Year Size: Height:  15-18 Feet    Width: 10-14 Feet

Acer palmatum ‘Oki kasane’ is a member of the Corallinum group of Japanese maples. All of these Corallinum type Japanese maples leaf out very early in the spring, and when they do, ‘Oki kasane’ has beautiful peachy orange foliage. This incredible color typically holds through April. The colors then transition to orange and then eventually green by the end of May. Much like other Corallinum type Japanese maples and maybe more than the others, ‘Oki kasane’ will usually push new growth in the summer which resembles the bright orange-red foliage of spring. This new growth on top of the olive green foliage is extremely attractive. Fall color is then orange to red.  10 Year Size: Height: 8-10 feet Width: 4-6 feet

Acer palmatum ‘Alpine Sunrise’ is a dwarf Japanese maple that emerges in spring with bright red foliage. This color fades somewhat in the summer before the leaves change back to a bright red in the fall. ‘Alpine Sunrise’ has a dense shrubby habit commensurate with most witches broom varieties.10 Year Size: Height: 4-6 feet Width: 4-6 feet
