Japanese Maples and Conifers

Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Kings Gold' is a golden thread branch cypress with excellent golden yellow color. This cypress grows in a rounded mounding form. 'Kings Gold' is an excellent golden conifer for small borders and areas in the landscape. The golden yellow color really shines in the landscape.  10 Year Size: Height: 3-5 feet   Width: 3-5 feet

Pinus mugo 'Sunshine' is a variegated form of Mugo Pine. The needles are green with bright golden variegation across the foliage. This variegation is strong and holds well throughout the year. 'Sunshine' is a relatively strong and fast growing Mugo Pine. 'Sunshine' will develop into a small, rounded pine at maturity. 10 Year Size: Height: 2-3 feet   Width: 2-3 feet 

Picea abies 'Dandylion' is an excellent weeping Norway spruce full of color. The primary color of the foliage is a bright golden yellow. In the spring 'Dandylion' will produce small pink cones at the ends of the long golden branches. 'Dandylion' has a low spreading habit that is quite graceful. This is definitely one of the most unique spruces that we have ever grown.  10 Year Size: Height: 4-5 feet   Width: 4-5 feet

Acer sieboldianum ‘Seki no kegan’ is like many other sieboldianum maples in that it is extremely hardy and displays wonderful orange. red and yellow fall color. What sets this cultivar apart is its growth habit. Starting prostrate or even slightly upright when young, with age this cool little plant becomes extremely pendulous. 10 Year Size:   Height: 3-4 Feet   Width: 6-8 feet

Acer palmatum ‘Yellow Cascade’ is a weeping Japanese maple with broad palmate leaves. This is quite unusual as most weeping Japanese maples have dissected leaves. ‘Yellow Cascade’ has a golden yellow color in the spring and summer before turning a vibrant orange in the fall. This is a fast growing variety that will need to be staked to achieve the desired height. 10 Year Size: Height: 3-5 feet Width: 4-6 feet

This is a cool little shrub type maple very similar in growth habit to the many hime type maples but with a cool little deeply divided leaf. Growing just about as tall as it is wide this little guy with the interesting texture finds itself at home in any garden setting where it can be given a partial shade. Fall color is mostly orange. 'Tiny Tim' was discovered by Dick Wolff of Red Maple Nurseries in Media, PA around 1980.10 year size: Height: 3-4 feet   Width: 3-4 feet   

Acer palmatum ‘Tiger Rose’ has light green leaves that first emerge with a slight red cast. When the red fades away the cream colored leaves are heavily contrasted with the dark green veins. Slow growing and slightly pendulous this elegant cultivar, which preders partial shade, has many uses in the garden. Fall color is orange.  'Tiger Rose' was found by Dr. Forest Bump of Forest Grove, Oregon and named after his wife Rose. 10 year size:   Height: 4-6 Feet   Width: 4-6 Feet

Acer palmatum ‘Kara ori nishiki’ is a variegated Japanese maple with green leaves with white and pink margins to the leaves. Fall color is a nice orange to red. ‘Kara ori nishiki’ grows into a tall, slender, shrubby Japanese maple.10 Year Size: Height: 10-12 feet Width: 4-6 feet

New growth appears chartreuse edged in pink or red before hardening off to a very nice deep green. The texture of this plant with it's dime sized wrinkled leaves layered over one another is amazing. This plant seems quite vigorous due to the fact that it always seems to have new growth at its tips, definitely odd for a plant that averages 2-3 inches of new growth per year. Very rare in the trade and always hard to come by because it is very difficult to propagate due to the short distance between nodes. 10 year size: Height: 2-3 Feet   Width: 1-3 Feet    

Acer sieboldianum ‘Kinugasa yama’ is a medium sized, upright growing Japanese maple with large green leaves. ‘Kinugasa yama’ is fast growing, cold tolerant tree with bright orange-red fall color.10 Year Size: Height: 10-12 feet Width: 6- 8 feet

Pinus strobus ‘Explosion’ is a dwarf Eastern white pine with a very dense and compact habit. ‘Explosion’ only grows a couple inches per year resulting in a small, compact cultivar at maturity. ‘Explosion’ has short blueish green needles that are common among Eastern white pines. ‘Explosion’ has the small mature size and shape that makes it perfect for the centerpiece in a rock garden or fairy garden or as a companion plant anywhere in a larger landscape. 10 Year Size: Height: 1-2 feet Width: 1-2 feet

Picea abies ‘Formanek’ is a dwarf spreading form of Norway Spruce. ‘Formanek’ stays very short and eventually grows into a dense, mounding tree. ‘Formanek’ is an excellent Norway Spruce for small spaces or when a short tree is necessary. ‘Formanek’ works well as a companion plant or as a centerpiece in a smaller landscape. 10 Year Size: Height: 1-2 feet Width: 2-4 feet

Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Split Rock’ is a dwarf form of hinoki cypress with soft, delicate foliage. The foliage of this small hinoki has mixtures of green, blue and yellow. The mature foliage typically has a darker green color while the younger foliage carries most of the blues. 10 Year Size: Height: 2-4 feet Width: 2-4 feet

Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Mariesii’ is a dwarf hinoki cypress with creamy white variegation splashed across the foliage. ‘Mariesii’ is an extremely slow grower that will only grow a couple inches per year at most. ‘Mariesii’ is an outstanding companion plant that can fit virtually anywhere in the garden. Protect this plant from hot afternoon sun in order to maintain the white variegation.10 Year Size: Height: 1-2 feet Width: 1-2 feet
