Acer palmatum ‘Anna’s Broom’ is a dwarf Japanese maple with uniquely shaped leaves. The leaves are much more divided than most dwarf varieties of this style. Very similar to 'Sango kaku' but smaller, 'Winter Flame' can vary greatly under different growing conditions. If stressed this little guy hardly grows at all and can be a little finicky. If happy in its environment it can actually grow fairly quick although still a good bit slower than 'Sango kaku'. We find that giving it well drained soil and adequate moisture is the key to happiness for this little maple.
