We have both grafted conifers and conifers grown on their own roots. Rooted Mystery Conifers may include Hinoki Cypresses, Deodara Cedars, Japanese Cedars, Junipers, Arborvitaes and more! Acer palmatum 'Sir Damon' Coral Bark Japanese Maple

Acer palmatum 'Sir Damon' is an excellent coral bark Japanese maple variety. The bark on 'Sir Damon' ranges from dark red on older branches to bright red on younger growth. This red bark color is most pronounced during the winter months. The leaves are light green in the spring and get a little darker in the summer. The light green spring color contrasts off the red bark very nicely. Fall color is a bright yellow. 'Sir Damon' is a great coral bark variety for someone that wants a coral bark Japanese maple but needs a shorter tree than the typical Sango kaku coral bark Japanese maple.

Acer palmatum 'Lemon Lime Lace' Green Dwarf Japanese Maple

The new leaves in spring are light green almost yellow and darken as they age giving the entire tree a two-toned effect that is quite striking. Although we do not recommend this plant for full sun in the Southeast, if you place it where it can get direct morning or late evening sun the new growth as it first appears will be tinted red. The growth habit is very pendulous and fall color ranges from gold to orange but is always spectacular.

Acer palmatum 'Black Lace' is a Japanese maple with dark red leaves that are so dark they almost appear black. These dark red leaves have deeply divided lobes and serrated edges. 'Black Lace' has dark red leaves in the spring that will fade to a lighter burgundy in the summer. 'Black Lace' will then turn a bright red in the fall. 'Black Lace' is very similar to 'Burgundy Lace' but with even darker leaves.

According to Yano, Acer palmatum ‘Sawa chidori’ is a Japanese introduction dating back to 1988. The foliage is green and white reticulated with red, pink or even peach highlights in early spring. Acer palmatum 'Okushimo' Green Japanese Maple

Acer palmatum 'Okushimo' was listed as early as 1710 in Japan. This old cultivar with a name that means pepper and salt, definitely has a place in the modern landscape. Leaves emerge chartreuse in spring with bright red petioles, before turning darker green and displaying cool little dimples all over the leaves. Its these dimples that reminded the Japanese of salt and pepper. Summer turns the leaves much darker and they begin to curl inward at the edges of the little sharp lobes. The distinctive green curled leaves of 'Okushimo' give it an ability to contrast just right with other plants in the garden and the fact that it is so decidedly vase shaped with most of its width above head height means that it can be tucked into corners and between paths or next to sidewalks. We do suggest that you plant 'Okushimo' in partial shade in hotter climates. The great fall color ranges from yellow to orange and even red.

Acer palmatum 'Tsukubane' Green Japanese Maple

In early spring leaves emerge red with green center in sunny locations. In more shade the leaves are green with red tint on the lobes. Either way they are totally green in a matter of days. However, the reason to grow this tree is for the wonderful bright red fall color. 'Tsukubane' is fast growing and becomes a large round topped specimen with age. Older trees regularly achieve heights of more than 25 feet. The Japanese name means ridge on Mount Tsukuba.

Acer palmatum ‘Sumi nagashi’ is a matsumurae type Japanese maple tree with deeply separated lobes and serrated leaves that will make a wonderful addition to any garden. Introduced in Japan in 1930, Sumi nagashi translates to village on the river bank. 'Sumi nagashi' is fast growing and will mature eloquently. Young trees grow vase shaped an upright, becoming much more rounded and full as they age. Leaves in spring will emerge sort of maroon but will be much more red than the purple color of varieties like 'Bloodgood'. As the heat of our southern summer starts to rise the foliage will first start to turn more red, then bronze before fading to green by mid-summer. ‘Pixie' is very similar to the more famous 'Bloodgood in mature shape only much smaller. ‘Pixie’ has foliage that emerges bright red in spring before turning much darker and holding its deep red color well into the summer even in hot climates. Then the show starts as the foliage turns first scarlet then becoming fire red as temperatures drop in fall.
