Acer palmatum 'Sister Ghost' emerges yellow with dark veins in early spring. Sometimes in early spring leaves have a slight pink cast. Generally growing wider than tall this small tree does best in partial shade in all but the coolest areas. Introduced by Talon Buchholz as part of the ghost series.

Acer palmatum 'Kiyohime' is a compact dwarf Japanese maple that will grow much wider than tall. For a plant that never gets much more than 2 feet tall 'Kiyohime' is relatively fast growing and will become a specimen in the garden after just a few years. The dense and lateral growth habit make 'Kiyohime' almost look like a table at maturity. The size and shape make 'Kiyohime' a perfect companion Japanese maple for different spaces in the landscape.
'Kiyohime' emerges in spring with red tips to the leaves before turning green for the majority of the spring and summer. These green leaves are very small, star shape leaves that help to expand on the compact and dense look of the overall foliage. Fall color ranges from bronze to orange.
Acer palmatum 'Kiyohime' is a hardy tree that can be grown in basically any climate in the United States. 'Kiyohime' will thrive in zones 5 through 9. 'Kiyohime' can be grown in full sun in all but the hottest climates. In warmer areas 'Kiyohime' would appreciate some protection from the hot afternoon sun. 'Kiyohime' does not require a great deal of sunlight and can be grown in mostly shade in pretty much any climate.
Acer palmatum 'Kiyohime' is a perfect dwarf Japanese maple for bonsai for a number of reasons. The growth habit of 'Kiyohime' may make it look like small shrub in the ground but in a bonsai pot 'Kiyohime' looks like the miniature version of a full size tree. The small leaves of 'Kiyohime' help to create this effect as well. The natural density will also contribute to this affect and will require minimal pruning and attention.

Acer palmatum ‘Manyo no sato’ is a wonderfully funky maple with the Japanese name that means "village of 10,000 leaves". ‘Manyo no sato’ is very similar to 'Beni shien'. In early spring the irregularly shaped leaves emerge cream and purple. Leaves become more purple and green with cream before the purple starts to fade in summer. While fairly sun tolerant this cultivar prefers some shade in hotter climates. In more sun the red colors become more prominent while in more shade the variegation becomes much more subtle. Acer palmatum ‘Sekka yatsubusa’ has short internodal lengths that give this small plant a very different appearance as the leaves are bunched up along the stems. Acer palmatum 'Hana matoi' is a variegated dwarf Japanese maple and is one of the most exciting Japanese Maples ever to hit the American market. The pink variegation is phenomenal especially in the spring. The variegation holds up well even in our hot climate and does not often revert like some other variegated varieties. The spring foliage emerges dark red with creamy white and pink variegation. As the temperatures rise heading into summer the base color changes from dark red to green but the wonderful pink and cream variegation remain all summer. The fall color for 'Hana matoi' is also remarkable as the foliage changes to a bright cherry red that lights up in the landscape. The colors of 'Hana matoi' will perform best in partially sunny areas or with morning sun and afternoon shade.

Acer palmatum 'Ukigumo' is the famous "Floating Cloud" maple. In early spring dazzling foliage opens speckled with pink and white. In summer the pink fades leaving only a dusting of white to hint at its former spring glory.
