Acer palmatum 'Nishiki Sho'
While some consider this cultivar synonymous with 'Arakawa' this plant collected from Smith-Gilbert Arboretum and labeled 'Nishiki sho' seems different than 'Arakawa' collected from other sources. 'Nishiki sho' seems to form rough corky ridges at a slightly younger age and seems to grow a little faster but shorter and wider than 'Arakawa'. Fall color is yellow to orange.
