Acer palmatum 'Iijima Sunago' Rare Japanese Maple

Acer palmatum ‘Iijima sunago’ is an old cultivar from Japan that was first mentioned in the 19th century. ‘Iijima sunago’ is an upright Japanese maple with dark orangish-red leaves with pronounced green veins in the spring. ‘Iijima sunago’ translates to “sand dusted” which describes the white specks that the leaves of this tree develops during most summers. Fall color is then a bright shade of orange.

Amazing leave color

The tree is healthy though its size is a bit small to fit in the JP maple collection, barely more than a foot tall. I bought from almost all online store to get a feel about their inventory and this store's trees seem smaller than others. Plus I didn't have a good experience as it took them a while to ship my trees, not until I had to reach out for the status. With that being said, each person's experiences are different. This store's trees are healthy.

Iijima Sunago

I ordered a 3 gallon Iijima Sunago and the tree arrived in excellent condition! The leaves were all perfect (no wilt from shipping) and the graft was very clean and well done! The tree had a good amount of roots and the soil was still moist when the tree arrived. Overall, I'm very pleased with the quality of this tree and many thanks to Maple Ridge Nursery!!

Received my Beni Gasa maple tree yesterday. It arrived on time. This tree was packaged very well. The color of the leaves on it now is beautiful. Excellent Red Emperor Japanese Maple

I received the 3-gallon Red Emperor I had ordered about two weeks ago. The tree was in excellent condition and the packaging immaculate.
