Acer palmatum 'Asayake' is a dwarf lace leaf Japanese maple with yellow foliage in the spring. In addition to this incredible yellow color the leaves also have slight red edges. The leaves change to a light green in the summer. Fall color transitions from orange to bright red. 'Asayake' is a dwarf, pendulous tree that should form a low growing shrub at maturity. Acer palmatum ‘Autumn Fire’ grows more prostrate than pendulous forming a beautiful mushroom shaped mound. The new spring foliage emerges light green edged in pink. As summer arrives the pink fades and the green leaves become darker. ‘Chantilly Lace’ was found at Red Maple Nursery in 1949 and introduced by Billy Shwartz. This great Japanese maple with the Rock and Roll name has very finely cut leaves.  New growth appears red but very quickly changes to green from the center of the leaf out. This effect gives the plant almost a variegated appearance. By summer the foliage is light green almost chartreuse and contrasts greatly with other green maples that start yellow-green only to darken as summer approaches. Fall color is bright raspberry red. Acer palmatum ‘Crimson Princess’ is a low, spreading Japanese maple. ‘Crimson Princess’ has lacy leaves that emerge red in the spring. These red leaves typically transition to a darker burgundy color in the summer. Fall color is a bright red. 10 Year Size: Height: 3-5 feet Width: 4-6 feet

‘Disscetum Nigrum’ is known for the silver hairs covering the emerging foliage in early spring,  this old cultivar is a great addition to any garden. Although originally found in Japan, 'Dissectum Nigrum' was named in the Netherlands in 1938. Spring color is dark red and holds well into the summer in most areas but does bronze before turning an attractive olive green rather quickly in hot climates. Fall color is bright red. Acer palmatum ‘Dr. Brown’ is a gorgeous tree with a name that doesn’t do it justice. ‘Dr. Brown’ leafs out with peach, pink, maroon, and green tones to the delicate foliage that give this tree outstanding spring color. This color eventually fades to green in the summer and then changes to bright orange in the fall. ‘Dr. Brown’ has a very weeping habit that keeps this tree relatively small at maturity. 10 Year Size: Height: 3-5 feet Width: 4-6 feet

Acer palmatum ‘Dragon’s Fire’ is an awesome lace leaf Japanese maple that leafs out bright, fiery red before turning peach, then burgundy, then green in the summer. ‘Dragon’s Fire’ then turns bright orange to red in the fall. Acer palmatum 'Eye of the Tiger' is a dwarf Japanese maple with delicate lacy leaves. These small leaves emerge in spring with a light red to almost peachy color. By summer the leaves turn to a light green. Summer flushes of new growth offer more splashes of the vibrant spring color across the foliage. Fall color is then a bright red. This is a very rare reticulated leaf form dissectum. The new leaves in spring are light green sometimes almost white with dark veins. A great plant for many parts of the world. Although very beautiful 'Filigree' is more of a collector plant in hotter climates as summers heat will really do a number on it around August,  causing it to drop a large percentage of it's leaves. This is caused by heat and not lack of water. If you must try your luck with this plant in hotter climates please place in a cool shady spot. ‘Germaine’s Gyration’ was discovered by Bob Vandermoss and introduced by Andre Iselli for his mother Germaine. This outstanding dissectum variety does well in the south, tolerating even full sun. This is important because most green dissectums will not tolerate full sun as far south as Atlanta. Germaine's Gyration will become much wider than tall with the inner branching swirling around the main trunk in different directions making it obvious where the gyration part of the name came from. The outer form of the tree however is a very pleasant and fairly symmetrical mound. One of the older dissectums in cultivation in Europe having been grown for well over 100 years. It is still popular today although competition from varieties that hold color longer into summer has caused production to decrease.  Emerging green dusted with red in shady areas to a rusty red in more sun, 'Ornatum' forms a large graceful shrub when mature. While very heat tolerant 'Ornatum' does prefer light shade in hot climates.
