Acer palmatum ‘Peve Dave’ is a shorter bushy Japanese maple with unusually shaped leaves. The leaves of ‘Peve Dave’ are typically thinner than a traditional broadleaf Japanese maple but thicker than a linearilobum typle. These unique leaves emerge red in the spring before fading to a burgundy and then green in the summer. The leaves then turn a bright red in the fall.

Unfortunately, this variegation is inconsistent and does not appear every year. Without the variegation, ‘Peve Multicolor’ has light green leaves and an attractive form. This seems to be the more common look for us. Our Peve Multicolor are not currently showing variegation. Fall color is going to be a brilliant yellow to orange regardless of the variegation.
