Acer palmatum ‘White Peaches’ is a heavily reticulated Japanese maple. ‘White Peaches’ emerges in spring with brilliant white leaves that appear to be dipped in red. These red tips go away rather quickly, giving way to the bright white spring leaves. The white leaves are contrasted by the bright green veining on each leaf. While the colors do fade by the summer time, there is still quite a bit of reticulated variegation left on the leaves throughout the summer. Acer palmatum ‘Alpine Silver Thread’ is an outstanding Japanese maple with reticulated variegation. ‘Alpine Silver Thread’ has white leaves with green veins in the spring. This coloring gives the appearance that ‘Alpine Silver Thread’ is glowing in the garden. The leaves will fade to green in the summer, but it still maintains much of the reticulated variegation. Fall color ranges from yellow to orange. ‘Alpine Silver Thread’ has an upright growth habit that doesn’t get very big.

Acer palmatum ‘Aka shigitatsu sawa’ has amazing early spring variegation. Almost the entire leaf will be cream with undertones of red and dark green veins. The leaves will turn green in the summer but the veins will be darker. 'Aka shigitatsu sawa' will not tolerate afternoon sun in hot climates but should be placed where it can get 3-4 hours of morning sun because light is required to get the red tones to show up. This plant is slow to mature but will turn into a small round topped tree that will be almost as wide as tall.

Acer palmatum ‘Dark Ghost’ is the newest member of the “Ghost” series. ‘Dark Ghost’ is a reticulated Japanese maple just like the rest of the “Ghosts”. Unsurprisingly, ‘Dark Ghost’ has the darkest purple leaves of any of the other ghost varieties. ‘Dark Ghost’ is even a darker purple than ‘Purple Ghost’. ‘Dark Ghost’ also has a larger leaf than many of the other ghost varieties. Acer palmatum ‘Dark Ghost’ leafs out in the spring with a deep purple-red color with reticulated veining. This color holds pretty well into the summer even if the reticulation doesn’t. Fall color is a bright red.

Acer palmatum ‘Frosted Purple’ is reticulated Japanese maple with outstanding color particularly in the spring. ‘Frosted Purple’ is similar to the Japanese maples in the “Ghost” series in that it has reticulated variegation and the unique, jagged edges to the leaves. ‘Frosted Purple’ comes out a very light purple color in the spring. This color is much brighter than that of ‘Purple Ghost’ or several other reticulated Japanese maples. This color dulls in the summer, but the reticulation typically holds. Acer palmatum ‘Nebula’ is another in a long line of excellent, reticulated Japanese maples introduced by Buchholz nursery. The leaves of Nebula emerge a light pink with peach and cream variegation. The foliage fades to green by summer but maintains the darker contrasting veins. These leaves then change to a striking red color in the fall. ‘Nebula’ is a small to medium growing Japanese maple that will grow to about 8 feet tall at maturity.

Acer palmatum ‘First Ghost’ is another of the reticulated leaf form ghost series from Talon Buchholz. 'First Ghost' requires afternoon shade in most climates and mostly shade in hotter areas. Growing more upright when young, with age it becomes as wide or wider than tall. 'First Ghost' boasts outstanding spring color that is predominately creamy white or yellow with dark veins and red margins. The variegation on 'First Ghost' holds longer into the summer than any reticulated cultivar we grow. Fall color is bright orange to red.

This is a very rare reticulated leaf form dissectum. The new leaves in spring are light green sometimes almost white with dark veins. A great plant for many parts of the world. Although very beautiful 'Filigree' is more of a collector plant in hotter climates as summers heat will really do a number on it around August, causing it to drop a large percentage of it's leaves. This is caused by heat and not lack of water. If you must try your luck with this plant in hotter climates please place in a cool shady spot. Acer palmatum ‘Baby Ghost’ is the smallest of the “Ghost” series of reticulated Japanese maples. ‘Baby Ghost’ first leafs out with an amber color leaf that transitions to red. Leaves then fade to burgundy and ultimately to green which maintains throughout the summer. 'Ruby de Sofia' is a beautiful reticulated variety that has fantastic colorations of pink and white in the spring. Those colors then turn to green for the summer, still maintaining the reticulated style. 'Ruby de sofia' earned it's name by putting on a brilliant showing of ruby red leaves in fall. This tree was introduced by Angel Mendoza and named after his daughter Sofia.
