Acer palmatum 'Amagi shigure' - mapleridgenursery
Acer palmatum 'Amagi shigure' Reticulated Japanese Maple
from $39.00
One of the most frustrating aspects of collecting Japanese Maples is nomenclature. This is compounded when different trees are introduced with the same name. There is a small green leafed dwarf with this name described by Vertrees before 1985. Since this tree was apparently introduced in 1987 according to Yano in his "Book for Maples", this name is illegitimate for this cultivar so we identify this plant as Amagi shigure "Japanese Selection" All this is even more distressing because this is an outstanding cultivar. Starting in early spring with bright pink leaves the reticulation becomes more  pronounced and the leaves become more red as spring progresses. In summer the leaves darken and become more purple while the prominent black veins remain. While more sun tolerant than other reticulated varieties this cultivar still appreciates some shade especially in hotter climates. Fall color is orange and spectacular. Trees listed as Pre-order are not yet available and will not ship immediately. These trees should ship a few weeks after ordering. 10 Year Size:  Height: 4-6 Feet   Width: 3-4 Feet
Acer palmatum 'Amber Ghost' - mapleridgenursery
Acer palmatum 'Amber Ghost' Reticulated Japanese Maple
from $39.00
Another of the ghost series from Talon Buchholz, this is a fine example of  a reticulated leaf form. 'Amber Ghost' requires afternoon shade in most climates  and mostly shade in hotter areas. Acer palmatum 'Anna's Broom' Dwarf Japanese Maple

Acer palmatum ‘Anna’s Broom’ is a dwarf Japanese maple with uniquely shaped leaves. The leaves are much more divided than most dwarf varieties of this style. The foliage then turns bright red again in the fall. ‘Anna’s Broom’ has a very tight compact habit similar to most other varieties originating from witches brooms. 10 Year Size: Height: 2-4 Feet Width: 2-4 Feet

Acer palmatum 'Anne Irene' Rare Yellow Japanese Maple
from $39.00
Acer palmatum ‘Anne Irene’ is a very unique variety of Japanese maple. ‘Anne Irene’ emerges in the spring with bright yellow leaves with a reddish border. These leaves are shaped different than just about any other Japanese maple. The lobes are deeply divided and each lobe is somewhat dissected but not enough to be classified as a dissectum. ‘Anne Irene’ also has a very upright habit unlike most dissectums. The red border of these strangely shaped leaves fades away by summer, but the yellow color persists all the way until fall. In the fall the leaves darken to a vibrant red. 10 Year Size: Height: 4-6 feet Width: 2-4 feet

Acer palmatum 'Anticipation' - mapleridgenursery Acer palmatum 'Anticipation' - mapleridgenursery
Acer palmatum 'Anticipation' Red Lace Leaf Japanese Maple
from $39.00
Acer palmatum ‘Anticipation’ is a Maple Ridge Nursery introduction that we have had some fun with over the past few years. It is a beautiful red lace leaf that seems to have an irregular growth habit. It’s most unique feature however, is how late this tree emerges in the spring. This is where the name ‘Anticipation comes from. ‘Anticipation’ routinely waits until the middle to end of April here in Georgia to leaf out, easily the last cultivar at our nursery to do so. There were many years that we thought the tree was dead because it had been so long. This may not seem like a benefit at first, but this trait protects ‘Anticipation’ from any late freezes or frosts. Regardless of the tree’s quirks, ‘Anticipation’ is a beautiful Japanese maple that has excellent red color in the spring that holds quite well throughout the summer even in the heat. Fall color is then a nice bright red. The growth habit is still something we are evaluating, but thus far to have a rather unique shape while becoming the same size as most other Japanese maples in this category. 10 Year Size: Height: 4-6 feet Width: 4-6 feet

Acer palmatum 'Ao Shidare' - mapleridgenursery
Acer palmatum 'Ao Shidare' Green Lace Leaf Japanese Maple
from $39.00
The name simply means green cascading which perfectly describes this great little tree. In spring the green color has a slightly blue tint that separates it from other green dissectums. At one time all green dissectums were probably called 'Ao shidare' but over time this cultivar became dominant and rightly so.  Growth  is very strong and pendulous. Ao shidare will tolerate full sun better than most green dissectum cultivars but could still benefit from some shade in hotter climates. Fall color is wonderful if not predictable, sometimes mostly yellow, other times mostly orange but usually a showy mix of both.10 Year Size:  Height:  3-6 Feet    Width:  4-8 Feet
