Acer japonicum ‘Meigetsu’ is a vigorous growing full moon Japanese maple with large, round leaves. ‘Meigetsu’ emerges in the spring with large, light green leaves. These leaves then darken to a dark green for most of the summer. Fall is when ‘Meigetsu’ puts on a show. Much like other full moon Japanese maple varieties, ‘Meigetsu’ has splashes of yellows, oranges, and reds across the foliage in the fall. The 3 long lobes on the leaves of ‘Naruto Kaede’ all tend to curl inward so that both the dark green top of the leaf and the glossy back of the leaf are visible giving the tree a very unique striking appearance.
