For a gardener with patience this very dwarf Japanese white pine can become the star of the garden. This plant was found in England at Hillier's Nursery in the 1960's and named for the head propagator at the time, Graham Adcock. Growing only 1 to 2 inches per year Adcock's dwarf is often used in rock gardens, miniature train gardens and for bonsai. The very short dark blue-green needles are in perfect proportion to the small plant giving even a young specimen the appearance of a very old tree.

Acer palmatum 'Ryugu' is a very exciting variegated Japanese maple. 'Ryugu' has about as much variegation to the leaves as any other Japanese maple. The speckled white variegation is quite consistent and should persist year over year. The other thing that is so interesting about this Japanese maple is it's dwarf, compact growth habit. 'Ryugu' will stay quite small with a dense and compact habit. The leaves are green with mostly creamy white variegation speckled all over the leaves. Acer palmatum ‘Ichigyoji’ is a green upright Japanese maple with large, broad leaves. ‘Ichigyoji’ is often considered the sister tree to ‘Osakazuki’ as they have many similarities including their large, broad leaves and bold, green color. ‘Ichigyoji’ also leafs out a pale orange color in the early spring similar to its sister, ‘Osakazuki’. The similarities don’t end with the leaves. The branching structures of these two trees are also similar in that ‘Ichigyoji’ shares ‘Osakazuki’s strong, stiff branches that give the tree an elegant shape that is endearing for a Japanese maple.
