Over time a superior clone must have been selected and remains in production today. The green needles have bands of golden yellow across them creating a striking appearance in the foliage. The needles are also a little thicker with a wavy flow. ‘Fukai’ is a fairly fast grower that matures to about 6 feet tall. However, like most other pines, ‘Fukai’ can be candle pruned to keep a shorter, denser form.
