Acer palmatum 'Mayday' is one of the most sought after Japanese Maples currently on the market. 'Mayday' is a Mikawa yatsabusa variant with bright yellow color in the spring. 'Mayday' grows just like Mikawa yatsabusa with short nodes and bunched up buds creating a shingled leaf effect. Acer palmatum 'Goshiki shidare' is a very unusual, hard to find variegated lace leaf maple. The deeply dissected leaves emerge green cream and pink and remain brushed with white variegation all summer long. The growth habit is very pendulous and fall color is usually orange. Unfortunately much like 'Toyama nishiki' it tends to revert to solid green, maybe more so in hotter climates. Acer palmatum ‘Fukinagashi’ is a delicate little linearlobum that may be the most unique Japanese maple in the category. The leaves of ‘Fukinagashi’ emerge in spring dark burgundy, almost black. ‘Fukinagashi’ also has some of the smallest and finest leaves of any linearlobum, which makes it a very interesting tree in the spring.
