This is one of the most extraordinary pines in existence and is sure to stand out in any garden. ‘Tanima no yuki’ is most known for its white variegation on younger needles, but the occasional pink cones are also quite the show stopper. ‘Tanima no yuki’ translates from Japanese to Snow of the Valley, which is a fitting name for this showy little tree.

Pinus parviflora ‘Fukai’ is a small, upright growing Japanese white pine with variegated needles. The green needles have bands of golden yellow across them creating a striking appearance in the foliage. There are many times during the year that the foliage is a more standard blueish green, but when the variegation shows, this tree really pops.
The needles are also a little thicker with a wavy flow. ‘Fukai’ is a fairly fast grower that matures to about 6 feet tall. However, like most other pines, ‘Fukai’ can be candle pruned to keep a shorter, denser form.
