Acer palmatum ‘Englishtown’ is an excellent, upright growing tree for tight spaces or smaller landscapes. ‘Englishtown’ is a dwarf Japanese maple that doesn’t typically have the same compact, shrubby habit of other dwarfs. ‘Englishtown’ will have a more tree like shape while remaining relatively small. ‘Englsihtown’ has dark red leaves in the spring that will usually keep their color very well into the summer. Acer palmatum ‘Seiun kaku’ is a Japanese cultivar has bright green leaves and red petioles. Similar to 'Mikawa yatsubusa' in that the leaves are layered one over the other like tiles on a roof but 'Seuin kaku' is much faster growing developing into a small more open and airy tree. Acer palmatum 'Dragon Master' is a Weeping Dwarf Japanese Maple with Small, Broad Leaves with Bright Yellow Color Acer palmatum ‘Dragon Master’ is a bright yellow version of the popular weeping Japanese maple, ‘Ryusei’. Acer palmatum ‘Dragon Master’ is a weeping dwarf Japanese maple with some of the most pendulous growing branches of any Japanese maple in existence. 'Dragon Master' grows straight down with a dramatic weeping growth habit. With this extreme growth habit 'Dragon Master' won't achieve much height at all without staking. This cultivar out of Australia has an interesting reddish color in early spring becoming more bronze as summer approaches. Reportedly this bronze color persists most of the summer but in hotter climates the bronze fades to mostly green with a hint of the former color remaining on the leaf edges. Acer palmatum ‘Aka kawa hime’ is a dwarf coral bark Japanese maple. If you are looking for a coral bark that won’t get any taller than 6 feet, then look no further. ‘Aka kawa hime’ will have all the characteristics of a regular coral bark Japanese maple such as ‘Sango kaku’ but at a fraction of the size. ‘Aka kawa hime’ will maintain a short, bushy habit. ‘Aka kawa hime’ is the perfect coral bark Japanese maple for any small space in the yard.

The leaf of 'Washi-no-o’ is a little more coarse than some dissectums and the margins of each lobe are cut more regularly and less deep than most dissectums giving it a very unique texture. 'Sekimori' is known as much for the attractive white striations on the bark as it is for its gracefully growth habit which unlike many dissectums, is slightly more prostrate than pendulous. Acer palmatum ‘Orion’ is another great plant from Dick Wolff of Red Maple Nursery in Pennsylvania, The very small deeply divided foliage appears bright cherry red in early spring. As the leaves age they become maroon, copper and olive green and much larger. This little tree always seems to have new growth at the tips with little bursts of red sitting at the branch ends creating an explosion of color like a miniature fireworks display in the garden. Acer palmatum 'Mikawa kaen' is the Golden Mikawa Dwarf Japanese Maple Acer palmatum 'Mikawa kaen' is a dwarf Japanese maple that is a relative to the ever popular 'Mikawa yatsubusa'. 'Mikawa kaen' is slow growing with closely arranged leaves that create a wonderful stubby upright tree. The defining characteristic of 'Mikawa kaen' is the short inter nodal lengths and closely growing buds that create a stacked shingle like appearance of the leaves. 'Mikawa kaen' stays a little bit smaller than 'Mikawa yatsubusa' 'Mikawa kaen' has broad leaves that lay flat and close together. While the leaf shape and structure is quite similar to 'Mikawa yatsubusa', 'Mikawa kaen' has some differences in leaf color. Acer palmatum 'Shidiva Gold' is a smaller form of 'Aoyagi'. 'Shidiva Gold' is known for its bright green foliage, green bark, and compact structure. The leaves of 'Shidiva Gold' emerge in the spring with a bright, chartreuse green color that only slightly fades into a light green in the summer. Acer palmatum ‘Autumn Fire’ grows more prostrate than pendulous forming a beautiful mushroom shaped mound. The new spring foliage emerges light green edged in pink. As summer arrives the pink fades and the green leaves become darker. Acer palmatum ‘Anna’s Broom’ is a dwarf Japanese maple with uniquely shaped leaves. The leaves are much more divided than most dwarf varieties of this style. These leaves emerge bright red in the spring before maturing to a burgundy in late spring. By summer, most of the leaves turn to a dark green. Late summer then brings more bright red new growth.
