Acer palmatum ‘Kinshi’ has some of the finest leaves of the linearlobum type maples. This little guy is a hit in any garden. 'Kinshi' is relatively quick growing when young for a maple that is still a small tree at maturity. Spring color is lime green, the color darkens in summer. Acer palmatum ‘Seiun kaku’ is a Japanese cultivar has bright green leaves and red petioles. Similar to 'Mikawa yatsubusa' in that the leaves are layered one over the other like tiles on a roof but 'Seuin kaku' is much faster growing developing into a small more open and airy tree. 'Seiun kaku' finishes most years with a very nice deep red fall color. The Japanese name means blue-green tower or palace in the clouds. 10 year size: Height: 5-6 Feet   Width: 2-3 Feet 

This cultivar out of Australia has an interesting reddish color in early spring becoming more bronze as summer approaches. Reportedly this bronze color persists most of the summer but in hotter climates the bronze fades to mostly green with a hint of the former color remaining on the leaf edges. The new leaves in spring are light green almost yellow and darken as they age giving the entire tree a two-toned effect that is quite striking. Although we do not recommend this plant for full sun in the Southeast, if you place it where it can get direct morning or late evening sun the new growth as it first appears will be tinted red. The leaf of 'Washi-no-o’ is a little more coarse than some dissectums and the margins of each lobe are cut more regularly and less deep than most dissectums giving it a very unique texture. This mounding shrub type maple tolerates more sun than most green lace leafs. I have even grown this cultivar in full sun in Atlanta, Georgia but some shade would be appreciated. ‘Disscetum Nigrum’ is known for the silver hairs covering the emerging foliage in early spring,  this old cultivar is a great addition to any garden. Although originally found in Japan, 'Dissectum Nigrum' was named in the Netherlands in 1938. Spring color is dark red and holds well into the summer in most areas but does bronze before turning an attractive olive green rather quickly in hot climates. Fall color is bright red. Acer palmatum 'Eye of the Tiger' is a dwarf Japanese maple with delicate lacy leaves. These small leaves emerge in spring with a light red to almost peachy color. By summer the leaves turn to a light green. Summer flushes of new growth offer more splashes of the vibrant spring color across the foliage. Fall color is then a bright red. This is a very rare reticulated leaf form dissectum. The new leaves in spring are light green sometimes almost white with dark veins. A great plant for many parts of the world. Although very beautiful 'Filigree' is more of a collector plant in hotter climates as summers heat will really do a number on it around August,  causing it to drop a large percentage of it's leaves. This is caused by heat and not lack of water. If you must try your luck with this plant in hotter climates please place in a cool shady spot. Acer palmatum ‘Pendula Angustilobum’ is a fast growing lace leaf with yellow-green leaves in the spring. These leaves turn to a light green in the summer. 'Rikuzen shidare' has a weeping habit and grows similarly to Ryu sei. It will only grow as tall as it is staked and will weep down to the ground from there. Where it differs from Ryusei is in it's stunning large leaves. The leaves on Rikuzen shidare have a similar shape to an upright grower called 'Osakazuki'.
