The green needles have bands of golden yellow across them creating a striking appearance in the foliage. There are many times during the year that the foliage is a more standard blueish green, but when the variegation shows, this tree really pops.
The needles are also a little thicker with a wavy flow. ‘Fukai’ is a fairly fast grower that matures to about 6 feet tall. However, like most other pines, ‘Fukai’ can be candle pruned to keep a shorter, denser form.

The golden color is best displayed in nearly full sun situations. ‘Goldylocks’ is also known for its small, attractive cones. ‘Goldylocks’ is most likely synonymous with Pinus Parviflora ‘Tenysu kazu’, however there is enough conflicting information that we keep both varieties labelled separately. Pictures were taken from our ‘Goldylocks’ growing in heavy shade. Notice the lack of golden color.
