Acer palmatum 'Oshio beni' Red Japanese Maple
Size
1 Gallon 3 Gallon 7 Gallon 15 Gallon 25 GallonAfter much online research for a reputable Japanese maple nursery, we ordered 3 varieties of Japanese maple trees from Maple Ridge Nursery. The Oshio Beni was the smallest one at 1 gallon, but that didn’t mean it isn’t as beautiful or as big as the other two 3 gallon maples we purchased. The Oshio Beni maple came sturdily strapped inside a tall cardboard box, and the planting bucket was wrapped & tapped to prevent soil loss during shipment. Upon arrival it was the smallest maple tree of the three with fuzzy leaf buds starting to form. I say “was” the smallest, because after a few days the fuzzy buds leafed out revealing beautiful broad light purple colored leaves. (We planted our maples within a few days of receipt). And, it definitely sprouted up some in a matter of weeks-we have had this tree for about 3 weeks now. While the tree trunk is slimmer than the 3 gallon varieties we also purchased (both are mounding dwarf varieties), the Oshio Beni has almost caught up in spread and height to one of the other red lace leaf Japanese maple purchased at the same time. We couldn’t be happier that we received such beautiful and healthy maples from Maple Ridge Nursery. Thank you so much for our lovely maples!

from 326 reviewsReally enjoyed receiving my order. Though I thought the hinoki was something different it was a nice plant. Packaging was great. Love the red devil. As for Fillip's it came in more green then expected but I'm hoping that was from a green house cloth shade or something. Next winter will tell all!
pretty little tree. esutifully packed. I love the plastic strings. so much easier to unpack than pulling staples.
This was an unusually large 3 gallon specimen, one of the most substantial I've ever gotten on line.
Of 9 I purchased recently, leaves are most visible in many different colors.
Unsure if u ever got my initial email, but I told you how I lost a base for a graft. Maybe 8' and 10yrs old.
I neglected to put in cold frame. Kawahara IS that fluorescent green! Considering another one.
1 little twig 2inch broke. All I've received, so far, so good. About red dragon, great buds emerging. 2 weeks back I bought a high graft from your area ( red dragon) , main branch broken , 2 twigs remain .ALL your orders arrive in the upright position. Never received that way ever.
I'm happy.
The healthiest, strong plants ever. I applaud the expert packing. All 4 arrived in excellent shape.
The all green bundle was heavily budded when they arrived. Several weeks later, all are showing different juvenile colors. Easy purchase and shipping process. Quality product.
For someone who buys 20+ maples/year this is a great money saving option for mail order.
Received my tree in record time and it was very securely wrapped. Not one grain of dirt was in the box. Highly recommend Maple Ridge.
I received my two Japanese Maples- Fireglow and Hot Blonde in tact in your innovative packaging. Nice work.
Both trees seemed in tact but very thin and fragile. The Hot Blonde, disappointingly, was only half the size (maybe 8") of the FireGlow.
I have noticed tiny buds on both trees since planting here in Zone 9 a week ago. Both trees buds have been nipped recently by squirrels.
I am concerned about the trees dieing off after continual squirrel incursions. What can I do to thwart the squirrels?
I am hoping you will replace these trees if they die. They are very fragile.
This was a wonderful opportunity to get hands on experience. Grafting is alot harder than it looks on YouTube. It's been a couple of weeks since the class and everything looks good so far.
I couldn't be happier with this tree or the others I purchased from Maple Ridge. The selection is unbelievable - both for its variety and quality.
The icee blue juniper came packaged in good condition. It’s exactly what I wanted. Thank you so very much.

We are constantly putting trees in larger pots to allow them to grow and not become root bound. Therefore, many of our trees may have loose dirt in the pot until the roots fill out the container.
All of our Japanese Maples are grafted with a side veneer graft unless specifically stated as seedlings. This style of grafting is most commonly used in the nursery industry and allows these trees to still become excellent bonsai as the graft scar will be no longer visible when the trees age.
