A
fast growing cultivar that comes out more orange red than purple red in
early spring but rapidly darkens as it is exposed to the spring sun,
'Oshio beni' is a strong grower. It will not hold it's color as
long into the hot summers of the southeast as well as some other
cultivars, turning green by late June in Atlanta. What 'Oshio beni' lacks
in summer color it more than makes up for in the fall when the foliage
turns a bright orange red.
