An upright vase shaped form of coral
bark maple. You will sometimes see 'Beni Kawa' spelled as 'Beni Gawa',
this is
due to a translation error when it was first brought to the U.S. and
some
growers have never corrected the mistake. The bark is usually more red
in
winter compared to the more salmon color of 'Sango Kaku'. Fall color
ranges
from yellow to orange and usually is an attractive combination of both.
The foliage would like a little break from the summer sun in hotter
climates, but the more winter sun the tree gets the more intense the
bark color will be.
