'Shojo nomura' is a large growing red palmatum
that emerges dark purple in spring but seems to be more red than purple most of
the season. It holds its color in our gardens as long as any upright palmatum
we grow. The foliage tends to be luminous when backlit by the morning or
evening sun giving it attractive glowing appearance. It also seems to hold it's
color better in shade than most varieties. Fall color is red and usually
outstanding.
