Acer buergerianum 'Naruto kaede'

The 3 long lobes all tend to incurl so that both the dark green top of the leaf and the glaucous back of the leaf are visible  giving the tree a very unique striking appearance. This efffect becomes even more dramatic in full sun which causes the leaves to curl more prompting some visitors to the garden to suggest that this plant could use more water. 'Naruto kaede' is fairly fast growing and vase shaped at least when young. Fall color is usually orange.
